Some consider Google Adwords as Pay-per-Click Advertising or Paid SEO. At the end of the day, Google Adwords is simply paid search advertising.
A component of all successful performance-based marketing programs, Google Adwords is an important asset in any business’ arsenal and a valuable tool when launching a new service, product, or conducting research.
The business benefit is the ability to pay for top placement above and below the organic search results and on the Google Map. The word, AD appears next to each paid advertisement, as shown in the graphic, and advertisers bid on keywords and phrases and pay each time the advertisement is clicked.
Google does a great job monitoring clicks and will not charge for multiple clicks from the same user’s ip address within a 24 hour period. So don’t worry, your competitors won’t cause much harm when they see you are advertising in their area.
Since Pay-per-Click rates are auction-based, rates vary but many advertisers spend $0.95 to $2.00 per click.
